Feasting in San Sebastián

We have loved staying in this beautiful Spanish town. A great first start to impressions of the country. Heather picked this as our stop as she had read about its reputation as a foodie heaven, and it's so true. We had better leave town early tomorrow or we won't fit our seat belts when we get to the car.
We start the day with coffee and devine sweet crossiants at the cafe down the street, complimentary with the accommodation. The coffee is terrific, the tapas (pintxo) are delicious and laid out along the bar at lunch and dinner time so you just choose whatever appeals, most with some kind of fish - octopus, sardines, anchovies, tuna, peppers, cheeses, artichokes, cured meats etc. The food is a great price, and the wine cheap as.     I'm loving the sangria, and the Spanish cider (sidre) which is a yeasty apple flavour and bottled flat, but poured with great drama from a height so it splashes everywhere and makes a bubbly airy drink in the glass.  Heather had a martini last night, but was nothing like what we're used to but still delicious. The pastry shops are tightly packed with locals buying the sweets for the day, and are full of light crispy pastries and wonderful custards. We probably haven't met our 5 + fruit and vegetable servings, unless we can count all the grapes that went into the wine. Looking forward to what others delights Spain has to offer.
