Friendly Sete

After bracing myself with words of encouragement we got ready to drive out of Barcelona. Exiting wasn't as stressful as the arrival traffic and roads, and we were soon on our way, though I had been fiddling with the GPS again, and had selected the option for avoiding toll roads but this was taking us inland instead of the scenic coastal route along the Costa Brava that Heather had planned. After a few trail and errors with off ramps and resetting the guide we got closer to the road we wanted. We had passed a young women doing her make up sitting at an off ramp and wondered what the heck she was up to, but by the time we had passed several more young women sitting on the road side on a camp chair in short shorts and heels the penny dropped.

Finally arrived at the small town of Tosa de la Mer. We were ready for a late lunch and a break from the car. As we walked towards the beach along desolute streets, heather rabbited on about why anyone would bother to come here. However, once we stepped into the view of the small bay, flanked by rocks and old castle walls, it all became a lot more obvious. The water looked stunning. Though a bit cold for a swim, it was crystal clear, and still. Very inviting.
Had our last Spanish seafood paella, and got back onto the road hoping to arrive at the next stop before dark.

We arrived at Mas de Kle, Fontignan just after dark. Our host Andre was very welcoming, served us beer from his bench top cafe type tap, and we utilised Googles translation app to communicate.
On our last night Andre took us for a sunset drive of the great views and locations within his home town. Had the freshest oysters which were shucked just before serving.

Enjoying watching the street side chef prepare the freshest seafood platters for other diners. Not sure that we wanted raw mussels though and were very happy with the delectable salty oysters.
