Our last day in France was spent on a delightful drive from Sete back to Marseille through the beautiful Camarge coastal wetlands. Stopped numerous times to enjoy the view of nearby flamingos feeding in the waters, along with spoonbills and herons. It was our first sighting of flamingos in the wild and it was just magical, their long streamlined bodies, mostly head down, and occasionally we would see one flying in, like some high tech craft.
Enjoyed a picnic on the roadside, which was good planning as we hadn't realised it was Armistice day, and everyone was out enjoying the sun, sea and restaurants at point's along the route.
I had programmed the gps to the Ibis by the airport, and we pulled up desperate for a loo stop, gave a quick bonjour to the guy at the desk and hurried off to use the lobby toilets, only to find when we returned refreshed and ready to check in we we at the wrong hotel, our airport Ibis was 20 minutes further down the road. Oh well, we needed the comfort stop!
