A bit jet lagged but here are my first impressions:
-There's a lot of rubbish around and no evidence of those ride on sweeping/cleaning machines that streets and stations are washed with daily back home
- The filter coffee is cheap and good
- People are helpful regarding our lack of language skills and we mostly have gotten what we wanted, though the current bun I selected was sadly chocolate chip but we can live with that.
- the toilet paper in our super basic but clean Easy Hotel is more like a high quality kitchen paper towel
-windows look and work like small hobbit sized doors, despite not being on a ground floor room, but can also open as a tilt from the top.
- we realised on our first morning that the timber panel on the right of the window was actually a roll across window blind and so we could have sheltered the neighbours from the exhibitionism after last nights shower etc. But no matter, we will never see them again, and hopefully our indiscretions will not become some global tube hit.
- The apple wine/cider is flat and the still water we buy is bubbly (but we can improve on this)
And finally the kebab shop sold us a fabulous falafel plate with tonnes of salad and big enough to share and with a home made pita bread that beats anything I've had in NZ for only 7 euros.
